The report was launched on 15 June 2018 by the Hon Julie Bishop MP, Minister for Foreign Affairs, at the Banksia Ignite event.

Coordinated by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the report addresses Australia’s progress towards each of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aim to ‘end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all’.

The World Mosquito Program is contributing to the UN’s SDGs Global Goal #3: Good Health & Well-being by protecting the global community from neglected tropical diseases, such as dengue and chikungunya, and other mosquito-borne diseases, such as Zika and yellow fever.

We have reached more than 1 million people in countries where we have released our Wolbachia-carrying mosquitoes. As we expand into more at-risk areas globally, we plan to increase our contribution to the SDGs. Through collaboration with governments, research institutes, health agencies, donors and communities, our global approach can help reach even more communities affected by mosquito-borne diseases.
